Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is upon us. With only 3 weeks until the big day I’ve been itching to make something festive for the season. So what did I do to find inspiration….I started looking at Pinterest of course! My husband will tell you that I am a certified Pinterest junkie and I will agree. Maybe I should join Pinterest AA, lol. But I love this site! You can find some of everything and even things that you hadn’t thought of before. I have to say that 95% of the suggestions, ideas or recipes that I’ve tried from Pinterest gave been awesome. So as I’m going through the pages I see it, a wreath made of cupcakes. This is my next baking challenge. I went to Michael’s and picked up the products I needed to make a green cupcake wreath, but then inspiration struck again. There they were, a container of ice blue snowflake candies and ice blue dragee candies. I knew at that moment that I wanted to make a white and ice blue snowflake cupcake wreath.
After running errands I came home and started baking and making frosting. The snowflake wreath would be Red Velvet Cupcakes w/Cream Cheese frosting and the green wreath would be Chocolate Cupcakes and Eggnog Cupcakes, both with a Spiced Cream Cheese frosting (tinted green). To decorate the wreaths I made candy canes, stockings, holly leaves w/berries , snow flakes and bows all made of fondant.
So who was the recipient of said wreaths??? Well, it was my old classmate (elementary, junior high and high school), Lynda Jones. Since day 1 of my Facebook page, Lynda has been a big supporter. Be it positive feedback or telling her friends about my work, she’s been in my corner. And the crazy thing is she hadn’t even tasted my goodies, let alone seen me since graduation in ’89. And for this kindness I wanted to say thank you to her.
Ok, I could go on and on but let me just show you the final product.
Thanks Lynda and the ladies @ Solano County Social Services!
